Jecca Blac is a gender free makeup brand with a mission to represent all beauty lovers: all expressions, genders, sexualities, abilities, pronouns, shapes and sizes.

My role:
I worked with the founder to design packaging across key product ranges with a focus on brand consistency, clarity of information and application of design elements across future product lines. I also worked with the team to develop effective social media content and graphics.

Jecca Blac is all about using beauty as a form of expression - their mission is to represent all makeup users, no matter their background, experience or gender.
The project:
The founder, Jessica initially created the brand to be a safe space for transgender women to learn about makeup, and to create key foundational products for them to use in their new makeup routines. With this in mind, when designing packaging across the Jecca Blac brand, there were some important considerations to be made.

Design considerations:
-
The product name, colour and product type should be clearly visible on the packaging
-
Packaging should have clear instructions for use on outer cartons - to allow customers to understand their function whilst browsing the beauty shelves
-
The designs should represent expression - a key value of the brand

For consistency, all packaging was designed with two key themes in mind; clarity and simplicity - through clear text and clean layouts; and expression - through the use of paint like swatches in relevant colours to the product packaged inside.
